The World Categorized. The second group of unsaved are those who claim to know Christ but have followed after false teachers and doctrine. They lay claim to the name of Jesus, but do not follow the true teachings of the bible. To claim to believe in someone but not believe in what he says is a contradiction. There are those who wish to hold on to some of the promises and ignore the rest. They love to take little snippets of scripture and turn them into absolute truths. We say A, they say B and God says no C. One scripture needs to be interpreted in context with other scriptures. We know them by many names, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, Gay Christian groups and others. They can even be found in many of our churches, from those who sit in pews to those who stand in the pulpits. In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus says that on the Day of Judgment they will be standing at the White Throne totally unaware. They will cry, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Jesus will look down and say to them, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" There will be much sorry on that day. The saved group we can divide into two groups, those who will get into heaven and those who will barely make it. The first group needs nothing to be said about it. They will get to heaven and Jesus will welcome them with a "Well done my good and faith servants." The second group with all their well-meaning intentions will have to go through fire and agony to get into heaven. Their works will be consumed, but they will make it. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:12-15: "By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames." There is another subgroup in the saved category. The members of this group once accepted Jesus as savior and lord. They know the truth, but have chosen a path that will leave to eventual and sure destruction. Hebrews 10:26-31 says: "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, ‘The Lord will judge his people.’ It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." I believe it all starts with one sin. It continues into another sin and than another sin. Before the believer knows what is happening the heart begins to change. That hole which once wanted to be filled with Jesus’ presence begins to close. The temptation to sin becomes a deliberate desire to sin. It is not a giving into a weakness and sinning, but knowing something is sin and doing it anyway. When the point of no return comes I do not know, but judgment is sure. I believe as long as there is still remorse there is hope. Four groups, two unsaved, one saved and one on the road to destruction. Each group needs to be ministered to in different ways. The fifth group, those who are one the right road, doing the right works also needs ministering. The challenge is to work to fill those needs. We need to partner with each other and the God Almighty. Yes, we need to strike a covenant with God and Jesus to first seek his will, second to go forth and third to do that will. It starts with prayer. We pray for God to show us his plan. Having agreed on what he wants us to do, we then seek in prayer the Holy Spirit to empower us. Under the power and direction of the Holy Spirit even the most unlikely member can do mighty works. Some works are small and seeming insignificant but have huge results. Along with the speakers there are those who work in the background without whose efforts those speakers would be able to deliver the messages. Some of the larger Promise Keepers conferences take almost a thousand volunteers to do many tasks. The task is to have a vision. To engage in prayer over the vision. Next is to GO. Isaiah was confronted by God in Isaiah 6:8: "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’" How shall we respond? |
