The Lighthouse
There's a lighthouse on the hillside that over looks life's sea. When I'm tossed, it sends out a light that I might see. And the light that shines in darkness now will safely lead us o'er. If it wasn't for the lighthouse, my ship would be no more.
Everybody that lives around us says tear that lighthouse down, The big ships, they don't sail by this way anymore. Ain't no use it standing 'round. Then my mind goes back to that stormy night, When just in time, I seen the light. Yes, the light from that old lighthouse, that stands up there on a hill.
And I thank God for the lighthouse, I owe my life to Him. For Jesus is the lighthouse, and from the rocks of sin, He has shown the light around me that I could clearly see, if it wasn't for the lighthouse, where would this ship be?

I heard this song a long time ago. Even though it has been some time since I heard it sung it sticks out in my mind. I know of two groups of people who sang this song, The Hinsons and Happy Goodman.
How many times have we been faced with "the rocks of sin". Sin can wreck our ships of life. Yet Jesus was there with the light of his word to show us the way. Jesus is always there even though the world around us seek to tear him down. He stands firm today and tomorrow. We are but for a moment in a time and Jesus is forever. Shining his light to a world gone wrong. He brings our ship of life home safely. Put your trust in him today.
